Fabric Swap 2020

Having a big fabric collection is something that can be both a positive and a negative. It’s fun to be able to pick from to make a new project but it can also be overwhelming when your project list gets longer and the fabric starts to stack up higher and higher. Fear not, #fabricswap2020 is here!

With Sustainable September done and dusted, Ann-Marie of @craftystudio.ie and I wanted to keep the sustainable buzz going a bit longer while it’s all fresh in everyone’s mind. We want to encourage people to dig into their fabrics and let go of the ones you just know you won’t get around to using or that you’ve maybe fallen out of love with because we’re sure someone else would want to use it instead. So #fabricswap2020 is here to pay it forward and spread the fabric love.

We’re running the swap all through October and then at the end of November, we’re having a draw to give away some super prizes thanks to our generous sponsors.

To take part, here’s what you can do.

October 1-4th:
• Let the world know you’re taking part by sharing the below image on Instagram. Share it on your feed, on your stories, from your rooftop! The more people that take part, the greater the fabric selection to choose from. Woop!

October 5-18th:

Post pictures of the fabric you want to give away and state the following:

• The length and width of your fabric.

• The fibre content if known or at least try to describe it as best you can.

• What country you’re in.

• What country you’re willing to send to or even a local drop off point ie. Ireland only, Worldwide, name of a local shop etc ( Arrangements for posting/drop off and any delivery costs are to be arranged between swapees, and not associated with any of our sponsors. Please get permission from local shop if using that option)

• Use the hashtag #fabricswap2020

• Follow the hashtag #fabricswap2020 to browse the collection and comment on whatever fabric you’re interested in.

• DM each other to organise the delivery or pick up.

• Edit your post or mark the fabric as SWAPPED in the comments so people know it’s gone.

• Then get making!!!

19th October - 18th November:

• Use your new fabric to make something.

• Post a picture on Instagram with the hashtag #fabricswap2020 and be sure to tag @craftystudio.ie & @worthydesignstudio to be in with a chance of winning some amazing prizes donated by our generous sponsors. The draw will take place at the end of November.

I’m really excited to be a part of this and hope it can grow into a really fun annual event.
